The Indianapolis Radio Club Founded In 1914 The oldest continuously meeting Amateur Radio Club in the United States The AMACHEWER NEWSLETTER for MAY 2004 The club was founded in 1914 and has met continuously since. The club is now a general Interest group that meets on the second Friday of each month, except July and August. The meetings start at 7:30 PM followed by a program of interest to all. Programs cover a wide variety of interests; operation, technical subjects, talks by prominent Amateurs in our community as well as from other groups. Each December; the club hosts a dinner at which we present an award to the hard working amateur for Outstanding service to the Indianapolis Amateur community. We are currently meeting at the Indianapolis Training Center at 2820 N. Meridian. There's an amateur radio station in the center, which our club helps supply and maintain. Meridian St, Indianapolis, In. -Chuck Crist - W9IH; Introduced club officers; New hams & new club members attending our meeting. Meeting started at 7:30 pm; there were 53 in Attendance. Tom Chance- K9XVT; IRC Treas. collected new membership dues and handed out Current Membership cards and name tags. A brief Financial report was given. -This is our 90th year that the club has been in existence and our theme for 2004 is "Ham Radio is Fun and Teamwork". Announcements. - IRC Hat Fundraiser for our "90th commemorative club year" Hats will be available though the 2004 year. See Chuck - W9IH or Tom - K9XV at the next IRC meeting. Hamfest on Saturday, August 7th, 2004. Hamfest times are 7 AM - 1 PM. There are no fees for this Hamfest. Those wishing to participate should write their entry down on a card and hand them in to Dave during our break on meeting nites. -Dave- N9KZJ ; gave a brief operations report & chaired this months contest. Winners announced at end of the program. -Steve - KB9RDS reported on The kids net, they run it and it's just for kids every Sunday night at 5:30 pm on the INDY 146.70 repeater. - youth forum talk at the Dayton Hamvention this year. It will include Three of our Indy Young hams . There will be Special event station at the Broadripple Ham fest on August, 7th. Stop in and check it out! IRC April Program: "new digital modes & Equipment for PSK " Presented by - Hank - K9LZJ & Mike - K9JRI This was a leading edge technology presentation. - They brought several different types of Computer software for Amateur digital PSK, SSTV & other modes. They demonstrated this new software along with the several kinds of available amateur hardware, including Radios interface units and equipment. Alot of the attendees were able to get some hands on time with this very interesting gear at Programs end.. Thanks to Hank - K9LZJ & Mike - K9JRI for this very interesting and fun presentation..
